::Unexpectedly splendid. Went on the recommendation of a friend to try to hear some music. It looked like it was going to be a pokey downstairs bar but turned out to be much more. There are a series of barrel vaulted rooms. We didn't eat there but looks like huge portions. Splendid beer list featuring local beers with excellent table service. When we went there was a large scratch band performing mostly Latvian folk but other stuff too. There is a decent sized formal stage with a good pa that easily held half a dozen musicians so not just a singer and a mike squeezed in the corner. There are I think more formal acts other nights. However as with most things Latvian not much happens on Monday.

::Really great local food in a cool place. The restaurant is in a huge basement with themes from Latvian Folklore (don't feel scared if you see symbols the look like swastikas, remember they are very old symbols). The music playing is also folkloric, and they have a lot of books. I had the Stroganoff, a dish I've tried many times before, and that was by far the best one (his grandma's recipe, according to the owner). It had three types of meat, mushrooms, caramelized carrots, and it was accompanied by mustard seed and potato puree and a few greens. The portion was huge. They didn't charge me for water, since they have even sparkling on tap, which is always nice. The place is popular with both tourists and locals because of the good food and honest prices.

::Amazing place with great atmosphere. Really friendly waitress and a great selection of Latvian craft beers on tap (about twenty different ones). I had the Latvian meat balls for dinner, they were fantastic. With two mains and four drinks the bill came to €25. Highly recommend.

::An fun bar to go to. We ended up there after a recommendation from a friend. There was a very good atmosphere and the dance floor was busy and fun. The service was friendly and quick and not expensive. There are plenty of other bars in the street so the whole area is a busy and festive area. I would definitely recommend to check it out

::Some friends and I were enjoying Riga over a long stag weekend. We visited this place on the first evening (a Friday) and found ourselves jigging the night away to some glorious medieval style music. So impressed by the range or beers and hearty atmosphere found at this underground gem, we returned both of our remaining days! The food is tasty, plentiful and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend booking a table if you intend to eat, as this establishment is understandably busy. Will defiantly return if I'm ever in Riga again!
