Rozengrāls is a little expensive compared to other places in Latvia for food, but it is quite worth the price. The whole interior is candlelit (so you need a long exposure camera to get a good shot) with staff and recipes reconstructed from medieval versions. I shared the rabbit stew and an eggplant dish with my mother. I would personally recommend the rabbit stew if you’ve never tried rabbit meat before (like me). It’s got a unique texture. :)

Here you really feel like in Medieval ages. Plenty of candles, artistic staff. Even bathroom is worth to check. However, this place has high prices.

Rude russian waiters, not willing to help or just to be friendly to the guests. Toilets are becoming dirty with each year more and more. Seems like there is no good manager, nobody is realy taking care. Rooms are nice, exciting atmosphere, food is mostly good and tasty, but not everything well done. Sometimes the bread is cold and old, sometimes hot and tasty.

The best restaurant I have ever been. Wonderful food combined to the atmosphere. Once you step in through the heavy wooden doors and descend down the stairs into the dining hall full of candles, you feel like travelling back in time. Food is also Medieval theme and it won't let you down. Lot's of different dishes to choose from. A big plus from the many home-made things on the menu. Like for example the house's redcurrant juice was very delicious. They offer also free home-made bread as a starter. As a main course, I took the smoked chicken in spicy curry sauce and I can totally recommend it, it was very delicious. Portions are rather big so make sure you have some room for them, also snacks and smaller dishes available for smaller hunger.

I liked the concept, medieval setting and food. However I think for what it offered it was a bit over priced. Good food, had the venison soup to start and then the pork and lamb for main, both were well cooked with great flavours
